Origin

After the Indian independence, there was a realization of the need for the development in all fields-production both agricultural and industrial, education, health etc. However, in the then existing education system, only a very minute percent of the youngsters were able to obtain admission to some professional courses, eventually producing young people for a white-collared clerical job. At the same time it was found that for industrial development, basic man-power at the grass root level, i.e as skilled and semi-skilled technicians was lacking by and large the country. It was under such a background that the Hebich Technical Training School (now Institute) was formed in 1964 under the dedicated service of two German technicians Mr. A.Bauer and Mr. H.Weber. The Basel Mission which was at the forefront of service to the community in several fields saw that by starting a Technical Training Institute on the pattern of the training imparted to youngsters in W. Germany they could serve the society and the nation in many ways. It was planned to be a job-oriented 4 year course in the field of production shop/tool room in the mechanical engineering line.
