Inauguration of Partnership between Georg August University, Germany and the Karnataka Theological College: The partnership between Faculty of Theology, Georg August University, Goettingen, Germany and the Karnataka Theological College in M.A. programme was inaugurated on 8th September 2010 at Sahodaya. Prof. Dr. Martin Tamcke, Director, Department of Ecumenical Theology, Georg August University who is also the coordinator of the partnership programme for Georg August University inaugurated the programme and delivered a lecture on the subject: Oriental Identity and colonial Authority: Indian Christian Response during the first half of the 18th century. Rev. Dr. Hannibal Cabral, Principal, K.T.C. presided over the function. Rev. S.S. Salins, Registrar, K.T.C. welcomed the gathering and Rev. Dr. H. M. Watson, coordinator for Partnership programme for K.T.C. proposed the vote of thanks.
C.Th. Course for the Village Preachers of the Methodist Church in India: A new venture to give basic theological training to the village preachers of the South India Regional Conference of the Methodist church in India was launched by the Faculty of K.T.C. It is a two-year certificate course with contact seminars twice a year at different centres of the Methodist area. For the annual examination the candidates will come to K.T.C. The number of candidates is restricted to 35 in each batch. The first course was inaugurated on the 25 October 2010 at Gulbarga by Bishop Tharanath Sagar, the bishop of SIRC of the Methodist Church in India. Rev. Dr. Hannibal Cabral, Principal, K.T.C., Rev. Dr. Suresh Mark, District Superintendent, Gulbarga District, Dr. D. Dhanaraj, Dr. Annie Watson, Rev. Mohan Manoraj and Rev. Jessy Ranjan were also present on the occasion. Simultaneously a course for Village Preachers’ wives was also arranged by Dr. Annie Watson, Dean, Dept. of Women’s Studies, K.T.C. We hope that the said C.Th. course for the village preachers will strengthen the ministry of the Methodist Church in India in the days to come.
